Aspartoftheartsstrandofthe2009FuturesonicUrbanFestivalofArt,Music&Ideas,highlightsfromthe2008JapanMediaArtsFestivalwillbescreenedatContact in Manchester,from6:30pmonFriday15May 2009. Entry is free-of-charge.

Opentointernationalentriesfortenyears,theJapanMediaArtsFestivalisstilllargelyfocusedoninnovativeJapaneseworkdrawnfromamixofarts,entertainmentandindustry,withthisyear'sjuryselectionmadefrommorethan2,000entries. Workselectedfromtheanimationdivisionofthefestivalwillbescreened,includinggrandprizewinnerTheHouseOfSmallCubes(TsumikiNoIe)byKunioKatou,awardedarecentOscarforshortanimatedfilm.

Afestivalhighlightsshowreelgivinganoverviewoftheprogramme,coveringart,animations,films,games,webworks,mangaandaleadingtechnologyshowcase,willalsobeshownthroughoutthedayatContactbetween14and16May 2009.
